A tablet-based educational game teaches the placement and names of tea ceremony tools. Visitors drag and match the objects in their correct positions, turning cultural knowledge into a hands-on activity.

The installation invites visitors to engage with the tea ceremony through a tactile and visual experience. Projected text and objects respond to movement, turning learning into a quiet, interactive moment.

The Storrier Stearns Japanese Garden is a historic garden in Pasadena that has quietly held the cultural exchange between Japanese and American traditions since the 1930s. Its existing identity didn't reflect the depth of that history or the contemplative experience of actually being there. I redesigned the garden's visual identity from the ground up: a custom typeface informed by Japanese letterforms, a simplified icon system drawn from tea ceremony tools, projected and interactive installations that bring the ceremony to life, a p5.js ticket generator, and a tablet-based educational game. The system works across signage, print, digital, and physical space, all designed to make the garden's culture feel approachable without flattening it.
